Techcrunch just posted that Scoble saw something at Microsoft that made him cry, it was so incredible. They speculate it’s something competitive to AIR, some Silverlight online/offline thing.

I’m peeved at Techrunch’s analysis of Scoble’s post. They think MS is up to something that competes with AIR, some Sliverlight office app or online/offline technology. I’m sure they figure this is the case because MS plans to release news of this new invention at around the same time as the AIR launch. But when you read Scoble’s post, it seems like he’s talking about something truly ground-breaking (which Office and Silverlight aren’t) that is coming out of the MS research by the same guys who put together Surface and work on crazy intelligent computational graphics. Scoble goes out of his way to even note that what he saw probably won’t be immediately marketable, and could only be created in the comfy confines of the MS research group. So again, signs point to not Silverlight.

Anyway, perhaps Techcrunch predicts correctly. But it sure seems like they are totally wrong on this one.

  2. SCOble said online today that what made him cry with joy was Vista 2.0. A service pack or something. I’m sure the Vista service pack will make many people cry. Jeez. Get clue Scobe.

Either he was supposed to keep something confidential and shoulda kept his mouth shut, or didn’t and faked it to look important.
