Catalog Tree focuses on data visualization and info pornographics. Check out their site for some rather ingenious diagrams, and also a few choice shots of their workspace, which reveals, perhaps, secrets of their process.

Still trying to push out a Sunday edition of the weeks review of studio/typographic links collected elsewhere, but my Sunday mornings are seemingly full. In any case, here a images and links to three quality studios…

Stout Kramer out of the Netherlands some innovative type work on print, and out about in the city.

And then Grant Dickson’s Nothing Diluted out of London with a few super strong projects.

Finally, one of the best I’ve seen in a while: L2M3 out of Stuttgart. Smart, bold, innovative, structured, and thought-provoking. The next three images from them.

From Two Points out of Barcelona:

“The One Weekend Book Series” is a project we organize since 2003. As the name implies we create on one weekend one book. In each book M.Lorenz and a guest artist are given 48 hours to experience a city, document it and create a visual diary without the use of computers. What this results to is the documentation of a 48 hour search for visual entertainment and the definition of the city visited.

Quality bold paper and web-based work by This Studio. It’s a shame they don’t work with a good flash or flex developer to graduate their style into an more animated realm. It’s not that HTML is bad for web-experiences that focus more on the content and layout, it’s just that the overall experience is just so ugly when it’s interrupted by a flash of bright white light on the page refresh.

Next up is Brown design, a seemingly print-only shop out of London. Very clean, open work. Check out project 87 Ellery. It’s nifty. Brown Design

Both via September Industry.

And now two more from the UK. First up, happy little White Cloud. As mentioned, their typographic works are innovative and tricky.

And finally, Yes Studio with some great work for musicians and artists.

London-based MultiAdaptor applies high quality sheen and/or modernist style to their many branding projects. Their site is also top-notch featuring some pleasantly smooth transitions and logo animations. Definitely worth a peek.

Some fun ideas by Family, who recently updated his site. IMO he needs to update his site again with a decent navigation system.

New font from Ariel at Negro Nouveau called Marzo (March font). Very lux.

And finally new updates by Trevor Jackson, top-of-the-game musician/designer/artist extrodanaire.

Creative Review on Moving Brands new work on the Swisscom logo.

The entire article is worth a read but I found this paragraph about MB’s process particularly insightful.

Check out this video for the logo in motion. Very nice work.

I’m starting to see more and more portfolios utlizing Papervision3D.

The first, VaryWell, is by two brothers out of Seattle.

And the second, Whitevoid, is by some talented Berliners.

Interesting parallel between these two studios: they both produce their fair share of industrial/mechanical/electrical design, as well as screen-based design. Whitevoid especially is pushing the phyiscal and conceptual boundaries of human computer interaction. Almost all of their projects innovate in some way, shape or form.

Typeneu posts their favorite Flickr groups dedicated to typoraphy. Good source for inspiration indeed.

Also via Typeneu, E&A, an oversized newsprint that features many inventive treatments and layouts. Click on any of their online comps the get some new fresh ideas for your Flex applications. HA! Only kidding. Actually I’m not.

Precise pleasantness from Therese Vandling.

And finally, a set of stamps inspired by Otl Aicher.

Blunt, bold, and yes, rad. Rad Mountain.

Fun stuff from Terrace Studios. Great creative range from these young guys.

Ornamentalism, in all its metlculous intricacies, I always find beautiful. Yerhin Tong’s works is so surreal, so detailed.

Interesting work from the most navigationally challenged portfolio encountered in months. House of Burvo clearly and unintentionally demonstrates that some graphic designers and/or typographers, while wildly talented, should not do interaction design.

And finally Ivan Mato’s works in paper, photo, video, and sound. Best idea of his, IMO, are the registration marks on his website. Understated wit.
